Derry-Londonderry.

SECURE is reaching its final milestones. Among them, the Final Conference and last Steering Group Meeting that will take place in March in Derry-Londonderry (Northern Ireland).

Alongside SECURE's final events, another energy conference will take place: 'Green Infrastructure and Climate Change Conference', also organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council, in which SECURE partners will participate. This event will highlight the Council’s pioneering climate adaptation and green infrastructure plans, which are also a first across Northern Ireland. The conference will also explore the benefits of green infrastructure as well as the issue of climate action at a local authority level.

There is an exciting mix of keynote speakers from organisations including:

  • Greater London Authority’s Environment Strategy
  • EU Interreg project (Planning for Environment & Resource Efficiency in EU Towns & Cities)
  • Climate Ireland
  • Adaptation Scotland

This is the first Green Infrastructure and Climate Change Conference in Northern Ireland, which will support the creation, enhancement and promotion of Green Infrastructure (GI) to improve quality of life, health, biodiversity, development of greenways, resilience to climate change and economic attractiveness. It will explore how can green spaces be financed, planned, designed and managed to maximise their value for our environment and people's well-being.

Furthermore, attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in a bike tour of green spaces and places in the city.
