SECURE partners have attended a conference in Northern Ireland about climate adaptation and green infrastructure.

Guildhall in Derry / Londonderry.

Our partner Derry City and Strabane District Council (Northern Ireland) held on the 12th of March the 'Green Infrastructure & Climate Change' conference at the Guildhall in the city of Derry / Londonderry.

Energy experts from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Ireland shared their expertise and views with the big audience that attended the event. Furthermore, our SECURE partner Emma Norton was invited to speak during the conference. She highlighted Nova Scotia's culture of efficiency and answered questions from the attendees.

Also from the SECURE project, Leo Strawbridge, Energy Manager at Derry City and Strabane District Council, spoke about climate mitigation and energy efficiency in practice.

The conference was divided into two main topics. On the one hand, international experts on green infrastructure exchanged their experience and showcased some of their good energy saving practices. Representatives from Derry City and Strabane District Council presented Derry & Strabane's (Northern Ireland) Green Infrastructure Plan Consultation. From the Greater London Authority, another expert explained how to make greener a Green City. It was also discussed the conditions for environmental growth and green and blue infrastructure approaches, among others.

On the other hand, about climate action, some case studies were presented and policies and good practices from Ireland and Northern Ireland reviewed. For example, Council's climate actions and civil society local government adapts.
